Dan AI Product Guide

Last updated: May 27, 2026

Dan AI is an AI-powered assistant for commercial real estate professionals. You work with Dan through a chat conversation: ask a question or describe what you need, and Dan runs the right research, data lookups, and document tools on your behalf. This guide covers the main features, how to use them, and where to get help.

Documentation Scope

This page is Dan AI's current introductory product guide. It is intended to help customers understand the primary workflows available today, the information Dan needs to run them, and the support paths to use when something is unclear. We update this guide as major product workflows change and will add deeper workflow-specific articles as the product matures.

Getting Started

  1. Sign in at meetdan.ai/login with your account credentials. Each account is for a single user.
  2. Type your request into the chat box. You can ask in plain English — Dan decides which tools to use.
  3. Dan handles one request at a time. If you ask for several things at once, Dan will prioritize the first and offer to continue with the rest.

Tenant Matching (Property Search)

Find prospective tenants for a specific available space. Tell Dan you want to fill a space (for example, "Find tenants for 100 Fifth Ave"). Dan will collect the details it needs — address, square footage, office or retail, price point, and whether you want national or local prospects — then produce a researched prospect list. After the list is generated, you can ask Dan to look up contacts for those tenants.

DOB Violations Check

Check open building violations for a New York City address. Ask for "DOB violations for [address]". Dan validates the address and returns the count of open DOB and OATH/ECB violations, with additional detail available on request.

Market & Location Research

Ask strategic or market-context questions — gap analysis, comparable tenant mixes, "who's missing" from a corridor, or where a specific brand or company is located in a market. Dan researches the question and reports the findings directly in chat.

Business Location Mapping

Plot locations of a specific brand on a map for review. Ask Dan to "map" or "show on a map" a named brand (for example, "Map Starbucks in Chicago") within a state or city. Mapping works with specific brand names within a defined area; for general categories, use Market & Location Research instead.

Pedestrian Traffic Analysis (NYC)

See foot-traffic data for a New York City address. Ask how busy a street is or about morning, evening, or weekend pedestrian counts. Dan reports the nearest pedestrian count station and its latest counts.

Contact Lookup

Find business contacts for companies or named individuals. Ask for "contacts for [company]", a specific role (such as "head of real estate"), or a named person. Dan returns contact names, job titles, and email addresses. You can also request contacts for a tenant prospect list generated earlier in the conversation.

Property Owner Lookup

Find the owner of a building. Ask "Who owns [street address]?" with an exact street address. Owner lookups run one property at a time.

Property Flyers

Create a printable marketing flyer for a property. Ask Dan to "create a flyer" for an address. An in-chat form opens for property details and leasing-team contacts; once completed, you can open the flyer editor to customize the design and export a PDF.

Email Drafting & Sending

Ask Dan to "write" or "draft an email" and it produces a draft you can refine. Click "Use in Email" to move the draft into the email sidebar, where you can send it to contacts you've looked up.

Troubleshooting

  • Dan asks for an address again: Provide a full street address with city and state. Many features require a validated address before they can run.
  • No results returned: Some data (DOB violations, pedestrian counts) is available only for New York City addresses, and business mapping requires a specific brand name and a defined city or state rather than a nationwide search.
  • Uploading a file: Dan cannot open uploaded files or attachments. Paste the relevant content (such as addresses or company names) directly into chat instead.
  • Outputs should be verified: Dan's results rely on AI and third-party data and may contain errors. Confirm important information before acting on it.
